Industrial Action
Industrial Action - Wednesday 5 July 2023 & Friday 7 July 2023
Dear Families,
Learning at Home on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July
We wanted to provide some additional detail ahead of the Industrial Action on Wednesday and Friday.
All students have recently moved up into their new year groups ahead of September. Therefore, students could use the day to address areas of learning that they found difficult on their recent end of year assessments. Spending time revising and revisiting these areas will ensure students have even stronger foundations for the year ahead.
In addition, students can use the time to undertake work in their new ILBs (Independent Learning Booklets) which they have all been issued with.
We have provided a range of links below to support students in their revision.
- ILBs and ‘Quiz It, Link It, Map It, Shrink It’: Beckfoot School - Home Learning
- Access to previous ILBs: Beckfoot School - ILBs for 2022/23
- Our 4 key revision strategies (Flash Cards, Brain Dumps, Mind Maps, and Self-Quizzing): Beckfoot School - Revision Skills
- My Learning Resources: My Learning Resources - Home (sharepoint.com) - students need to log in using their school details
- Seneca Learning: Free Homework & Revision for A Level, GCSE, KS3 & KS2 (senecalearning.com)
- Additional revision websites: BBC Bitesize; Oak National Academy Online Classroom (the national.academy)
Although there are plenty of resources to support students in the equivalent of 5 lessons worth of study, we know that students will need to work at their own pace. Students should not do more than their usual 5 hours a day of lesson time and will need to take breaks as an important part of looking after themselves and structuring their day.
Best Wishes,
Nikki Sullivan, Deputy Headteacher

Industrial Action - Wednesday 15 & Thursday 16 March 2023
Dear Families,
Learning at home on Wednesday and Thursday for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
We wanted to provide some additional detail ahead of the Industrial Action tomorrow and Thursday.
Industrial Action - Tuesday 28 February 2023
Dear Families,
Learning at home on Tuesday for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
We wanted to provide some additional detail ahead of the Industrial Action on Tuesday.
For our students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, work will be set on Class Charts and include some written work and some Seneca assignments. Details of the work set can also be found on our school website here: Beckfoot School - Industrial Action.
Your child has been supported in tutor time with how to access Seneca Learning and a brief overview can be found here: Beckfoot School - Seneca Information - Year 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and here: Beckfoot School - Industrial Action
These assignments will not 'go live' until Tuesday morning in order to support our students in managing their time. As all students work at a different pace, there is no expectation that all work is completed, and students should not do more than their usual 5 hours a day of lesson time. We have deliberately included a practical PE session which can be completed at home to give our students a break from their screens / written tasks.
Should you wish to, you can set up your own Seneca Learning account, where you will be able to see how your child is usin this platform for revision, as the website/app can also be used by students to support their independent learning. Details can be found here: Beckfoot School - Seneca Information - for families
All work set on Class Charts will also have an 'extension activity' so should any students have difficulties getting onto Seneca, or just want to undertake a variety of activities over the course of the day, they can complete this activity instead.
Best wishes,
Nikki Sullivan, Deputy Headteacher
