Our School Sixth Forms are special. Delivering high quality teaching and learning, enhanced curriculum opportunities and research driven systems we aim to ensure exceptional results and outcomes academically and personally for all of our young people.
Sixth Form 2021-2022. Our vision and goals
We are four schools, one Sixth Form. In September 2019 we launched Beckfoot Trust’s Sixth Form. Our collective identity and brand, as celebrated through our promotional materials and external presence is a key strength. Our schools are Beckfoot; Beckfoot Thornton; Beckfoot Oakbank and our Specialist SEND 6th Form at Beckfoot Hazelbeck.
We have three mainstream sixth forms each with a strong academic base. Our curriculum is broad with a wide range of subjects and graduated entry criteria to support inclusion.
All of our 6th Forms are rated OFSTED Good or Outstanding and we make year on year progress with our outcomes
We want more and more of Beckfoot Schools’ students seeing one of the Beckfoot Sixth Forms as their natural pathway post 16. We will achieve this by a “from primary to secondary” recruitment and retention strategy and excellent GCSE results from our mainstream secondary schools.
Trust working means we have commonality across the Sixth Form sites regarding key aspects of teaching and learning, enrichment and systems. This makes us stronger.
We believe that school sixth forms provide life changing opportunities for students and staff. A school sixth form is the beating heart of a school and its students and young adults our leaders of the future.
Our Sixth Forms remain very much part of their home school and our Headteachers maintain responsibility for all of their students 11-18. As such each school sixth form has its own distinctive features that resonate with local communities and context.
However by bringing our 6th Formers from four schools (and ensuring Beckfoot Upper Heaton students make Beckfoot Trust 6th Form their choice for Level 3 Qualifications) together under the Beckfoot Trust 6th Form strategy we can share best practice post 16 and deliver even better outcomes for even more students.
