Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Year 6 to Year 7 Transition 2023 Update

Dear Parent/Carer

We’re looking forward to meeting our new Year 7s, together with you, at our Welcome Evening and spending the day with the Year 7 cohort at Transition Day. Our hope is that they enjoy both of these events and feel excited and supported about their next steps with us. We pride ourselves on building strong relationships with our families and look forward to working with you as the team around your child.

Transition Welcome Evening – Monday 3 July 2023

5:00pm - 6:15pm

Join us at our Welcome Evening to meet students and staff and learn more about our school community, meet your new tutor and fellow peers in your tutor group.

We hope you understand that our invitation extends to two adults only; this is to ensure your evening is comfortable and we can talk with every parent/carer and their child. Doors will open at 4.45pm.

Transition Day - Thursday 6 July 2023

8:40am - 2:00pm

(moved from Wednesday 5 July 2023)

Drop off - 8:40am

We look forward to seeing your child again on our Transition Day. They will experience a day at Beckfoot, learn more about the school and hopefully get answers to all their questions. It is also an opportunity to begin building new friendships and get to know their Tutor which ensures a smooth start with us.

Please ensure your child is at the front of school for 8.40am where staff will be excited to meet and greet them and ask them to get in their tutor group lines - students will have found out their tutor groups on the Welcome Evening.

Please don’t arrive before 8:30am due to the school buses.

Get ready

Your child must wear their primary school uniform with comfortable trainers (trainers are because they will be having a PE lesson). They are not permitted to wear hats or coats inside the building. They will be having their photograph taken in readiness for their September start.

Here is their transition timetable for the day (please note, the timetables in September will follow the usual 'Shape of the Day'):

tt - transition

Please ensure your child has a stocked pencil case, a packed lunch and a drink for their day with us. Children who receive Free Schools Meals will be provided with a ‘grab-bag’ which includes a sandwich, a baked item, a piece of fruit and a bottle of water.

We’re providing a snack for every child at break time. If your child has any specific dietary requirements, please let us know via the form at the end of this letter.

Home time – 2:00pm

Your child will need to be collected in person at 2:00pm from the bus bay area at front of school (Wagon Lane side) or they require permission to walk home. In order to ensure a smooth departure for our new students and their families, if you are collecting, you may park in the bus bay - but we require the bus bay clear by 2:10pm. Our driveway, in front of reception, is only available to families with a permit.
