Psychology FAQs
1. Is there any coursework?
No, the course is 100% exam based and you will sit 3 papers worth 96 marks, 2 hours each.
2. Why do you need to have good Maths, English and Science?
10% of all sections have maths questions which are essentially building on knowledge from GCSE maths with some additional knowledge on statistical testing.
Psychology is a science and so every topic includes the scientific approach to explaining behaviour.
The maximum number of marks per question is 16 and these are essay based questions so you need to be able to write fluently.
3. I’m not sure which of the Social Sciences to pick?
Psychology is a science and is therefore more scientific than Criminology and Sociology. Sociology compliments the subject well as they both use similar skills and there is some crossover of content. Criminology is a BTEC and therefore there is a coursework element to it as well.
