Your child’s learning: Religious Education
As part of the Year 9 curriculum, we will be taking the opportunity to explore ethical debates and dilemmas. As part of this, we will be studying two units that we would like parents and carers to be aware of:
In half term two we will study a unit called ‘Applied Ethics’, composed of topics including Relationships, Contraception and Consent, Abortion, Euthanasia, Environment and Organ Donation.
In half term 3 we will study a unit named ‘The Extreme World.’ This unit covers important issues including Extremism, Radicalisation and forms of violence, such as Child Sexual Exploitation, FGM and Honour based violence. We will explore religious beliefs, secular world views and contemporary British attitudes towards these topics.
