Year 11 and 13 Students: After Exams - 14 May 2021
Version 2
Friday 14 May 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 11 and 13 Students: After Exams
I am writing to let you know that our Year 11 and 13 students have almost completed their assessment exams as part of the process that will lead to Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) being submitted to the exam boards by Friday 18 June 2021. Next week the exams will be done, and our students have been magnificent in their attitude and approach from start to finish. It is important that you know that and to also know that we are very grateful for your support throughout. It has not been an easy year for anyone - but most especially - for our young people.
As you are already aware, our Year 11 and 13 students’ final day at Beckfoot is Friday 28 May 2021. This is their last day in school unless they are a Year 11 student who has been offered a place into our Sixth Form for September. Our intention is to say goodbye to them properly and provide some food and beverages as we do. Final days are always very emotional but I’m fully expecting this year to be more so than ever. What I really hope is that it will be a day to remember for all the right reasons.
Attendance after exams: It is very important that our students continue to attend school every day following the conclusion of their exams. Their attendance is compulsory, and from Monday 17 May 2021, Year 11 will be taught in their usual timetabled lessons and from Thursday 20 May 2021, Year 13 will be taught in their usual timetabled lessons. Provision will be made for anyone who still has exams to complete. The government has made it clear that attendance is an expectation of all schools and I ask for your full support in this matter.
Beyond Half Term: For any vulnerable students, who need to remain in school from Monday 7 June 2021 until Friday 25 June 2021, I would ask that you let us know as soon as possible. We will make provision for them to complete work and continue to be looked after in school.
It is hard to believe that we have reached this point in the year. The past 14 months have been as trying as any I can remember but we have come through it together. The future is looking brighter, and our students deserve great things in their lives. I firmly believe that very little will test them in their futures as they have been tested this past year. They are resilient, remarkable and I am very proud of them all. I am also very grateful for the unwavering support from families and for the many kind messages received over the years and in recent weeks and months.
Take care
