Year 10 & Year 11 Update
Dear Families
Overview of support for Year 10 and 11 students
We wanted to take this opportunity to update you regarding the support in place for your child in this pivotal key stage.
For Year 10 and Year 11
KS4 Supervision: 3:00pm – 4:00pm in M14
In order to support students with their independent learning, we are expanding our Supervision provision for this academic year, providing this support for both Year 10 and Year 11 students.
At present, when students do not complete homework, they receive a ‘negative’ on Class Charts. Two no-homework negatives on Class Charts in a week result in students receiving a detention. Moving forward, teachers can also book a student in for one of these Supervision sessions. Supervision can also be set by teachers where they feel students would benefit from completing other work, such as missed classwork, homework or activities that will support students in their next steps in learning. Supervision will be overseen by members of the Senior Leadership Team.
Where a student is booked into Supervision, students and parents/carers will receive a notification via Class Charts. Should a student not attend Supervision, they will be booked into a Leadership Team detention.
For Year 11
Period 6 / Masterclass consolidation and revision sessions: 3:00pm – 4:00pm
A range of subjects will be offering Period 6 / Masterclass sessions to support students as the year progresses. Where a student is booked into P6 / Masterclass sessionss, students and parents/carers will receive a notification via Class Charts. Should a student not attend a P6 / Masterclass session, they will be booked into a Leadership Team detention.
Catch Me Up Revision Sessions: Tuesday, 3:00pm – 4:00pm in AP4
Miss Mallinson-Powell (Head of Year) and Mrs Conway (Pastoral Manager) also oversee a weekly session where students can attend in order to have somewhere quiet to complete homework, revise and complete other independent learning activities with support from their year team.
We hope that this information is useful to you.
Thank you, as always, for your support.
Yours faithfully,
Simon Wade, Headteacher
