Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

Wave 4 Update

Download letter here

Dear Parents/Carers

Wave Update

We’re getting in touch with exciting news regarding your child’s provision in Wave 4.

As you know, we are constantly seeking ways to improve and strengthen the Wave 4 provision. Inclusion is absolutely central to this as we must ensure every child feels included, ‘seen’ and that they belong at Beckfoot School. As we move into a new academic year, we have identified that making changes to the tutoring structure will support your child to be fully immersed in what we offer as well as strengthen the inclusive nature of their experience with us.

After careful consideration, and close collaboration between the SEND and pastoral teams, we’ve decided that your child will join a mainstream tutor group from Monday 19 June 2023.

We will support your child every step of the way with this change and are confident that this is a positive decision that will further enhance your child’s experience of Beckfoot School. The change will strengthen our commitment to promote inclusivity, particularly at times such as drop-down days and assemblies. It will also offer students transitioning in and out of Wave 4 greater consistency, as they are likely to remain in the same tutor group, with the same tutor, throughout their journey with us.

We will be informing your child about the changes and the tutor group they are moving to on Monday 22 May during tutor time. In anticipation, thank you for supporting your child to recognise the value in making this move.

Yours faithfully

Alex Denham, Deputy Headteacher

Mike Barnes, SENDCO

Claire Smith, Deputy SENDCO
