Dear Parent/Carer,
September 2021: Arrangements
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the last twelve months It has certainly been challenging for all concerned. I want to let you know how September will be different as we begin to take the necessary steps towards a more ‘normal’ educational provision at Beckfoot.
We want our students to, once again, be able to move around the school, accessing specialist faculty areas for each of their lessons; getting our students back into the Science labs and creative subject areas is exciting. This means that, from September, we will be able to reset our students in Maths, English, Science, Languages and Humanities. Students can move out of their bubbles and into setting arrangements based on their current grades in these subjects.
This will also mean that students no longer need to come into school wearing their PE kit on PE lesson days as we will have access to the changing facilities once again. Students need to wear their full and correct uniform (as set out in the student planner and the website) every day and bring PE kit in their bags. Trainers are not allowed and should only be in school for the purposes of PE lessons or involvement in SPA or breaktime activities.
As alluded to above, we very much want our high standards and expectations to be adhered to from the outset and we would ask that you support this by ensuring that your child arrives on time each day, in the correct uniform and with the correct equipment ready to learn. We have learned a great deal from our Covid operational procedures and have decided that some things we put in place this year have been an improvement. Student entrances and the way they move around the building is one of these. For more information about this please see our web page dedicated to September 2021 reopening. We will be talking to our students in more detail about all this as part of their induction session in September.
Finally, we communicated the need to test all students again before they start term in September. This is as per government guidelines surrounding the return of secondary aged school children in the Autumn term. As was the case last time, this is voluntary and students who choose not to take part will join their peers back in school on the following days:
- Year 7 - Tuesday 7th September 2021
- Year 8 - Wednesday 8th September 2021
- Year 9 - Thursday 9th September 2021
- Year 10 - Wednesday 8th September 2021
- Year 11 - Tuesday 7th September 2021
- Year 12 - Tuesday 7th September 2021
- Year 13 - Wednesday 8th September 2021
We will shortly be sending more details out about testing times and how we envisage this will work.
