School Update: Tuesday 7 January 2025
Dear Parents/Carers and Students,
Thanks again for your support today. I am sorry that I had to take the decision to close our school. I hate doing so because I know the impact it can have on families and learning.
I have been meeting this afternoon and evening with our CEO, central team and the other Headteachers within our Trust trying to figure out how best to manage things in the morning.
There are growing concerns this evening about the plummeting temperatures and the impact on travel first thing. There is ice to contend with and, despite gritting, it may well be an issue early in the morning.
To support staff and families we have collectively agreed to start our day at 10.30am tomorrow, Tuesday 7 January 2025. This means that everyone will have extra time to get to school safely which I hope will help.
I know that this is far from ideal but it is best to decide now so that hopefully things improve as the morning progresses.
Finally, where possible, please can you ensure that your children do not head for school before 8.30am. We will communicate again at that time or just before to confirm whether we can open or not. That will depend on the safety of the site mainly (we have a team due to begin work again very early in the morning so I am hopeful).
I am so sorry to ask this of you when I know you are likely to be under pressure already with your own busy lives. I am desperately trying to get this right for everyone. Not easy!
Thank you.
Mr Wade, Headteacher
