Learning at Home Update - 15 June 2021

Tuesday 15 June 2021

Dear Parent or Carer,

Learning at Home

Since returning to school in March we have continued to ‘dual-stream’ lessons for all year groups in order that students who cannot be in school can still access their learning. I thought it only prudent to get in touch again to answer a few key questions that have come through over recent weeks.

Will all lessons be dual-streamed?

All lessons for all year groups are dual-streamed with two exceptions.

  1. Should the teacher be absent and unable to deliver a live lesson from home then the cover teacher will not dual-stream the cover lesson from school. The cover work that has been provided for the class will be uploaded to Teams in order that all students have access to these resources.
  2. BTEC and A-Level PE lessons will be dual-streamed but KS3 PE and KS4 Games will not be. Students can take this opportunity to take a break from their screens and complete some physical activity of their own.

Will teachers be delivering live lessons from home?

Wherever possible, our staff will be delivering live lessons from home should they be unable to be in school. These lessons will be projected to students in the classroom and also available to students at home using their Teams account.

What support is available to my child when they cannot be in school?

Your child’s Head of Year or Pastoral Manager will continue to stay in touch and call home once a week in order to check in with your child and see how they are getting on. Should you or your child have any questions or queries you can get in touch with their Head of Year or Pastoral Manager via email or telephone as needed.

Who do I contact if I have any questions?

Alongside contacting your child’s Head of Year or Pastoral Manager you may want to get in touch with your child’s subject teacher if they have a question about work they need to complete. Your child can email their teachers directly and they will get back in touch as soon as possible.

We continue to be grateful for the ways in which our families are supporting the school during these times and, once again, thank you for your feedback.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any further questions.

Yours sincerely

Kind regards

Nikki Sullivan

Deputy Headteacher
