Dear Parent or Carer

June-to-June 2021

I wanted to let you know about our plans for June-to-June this year and explain a few things in relation to our decisions to move forward with this.

Following the government announcement last Monday, we had to give ourselves a little bit of time to consider whether we would still continue with our plans to begin our new academic year on Monday 28 June 2021. Having considered everything, we feel that we can manage the risks well because our Risk Assessment is strong but also that our students need the change and boost that June-to-June brings. I hope you agree.

As you know, we must continue to adhere to our robust Risk Assessment and, in doing so, ensure we maintain the provision of class bubbles within Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9). To that end, we plan the following moves to allow students a change of environment as we begin to deliver the next stage of learning for them. I am keen that we generate an excitement about June-to-June and that students are very clear, because of the messages they receive from staff, that, from Monday, they will be a year further on in their learning and the associated expectations of this.

With that in mind we have decided to locate our students in the following areas of school from next Monday:

  • Current Year 7 (new Year 8) will move from the English Faculty area to the Maths Faculty area.
  • Current Year 8 (new Year 9) will move from the Maths Faculty area into the English Faculty area.
  • Current Year 9 (new Year 10) will be staying put in the Humanities Faculty area but will be starting their options so will become a year group bubble as opposed to class bubbles. They will be moving from lesson to lesson accordingly.
  • Current Year 10 (new Year 11) will move into the Year 11 bubble in the DT and Languages Faculty areas.
  • Current Year 12 (new Year 13) will remain as they are.

A few things to note about lunch arrangements:

  • Lunch 1 (12:20 - 12:50) - New year 8 and 9
  • Lunch 2 (13:20 - 13:50) - New year 10, 11 and 13

Students will be receiving their new timetable in tutor time later this week, but we will also be emailing all parents and students a copy of this, so students will know where to head on their first day of June-to-June. Please see our map layout here. This will also show them what entrances to use.

I very much hope this helps you to understand our thinking and deliver a strong start for every child. We would welcome your ongoing support by ensuring students are punctual to school every day, that their uniform (including PE uniform) is full and correct and that they have the necessary equipment for learning.

Any issues please let us know and we will help.

Many thanks

Simon Wade
