Jackie Drew Wins Supporting Staff Award!
Congratulations to Beckfoot nurse Jackie Drew on winning the Telegraph and Argus Education Award in the ‘Supporting Staff Member’ category.
Jackie was nominated by Alex Denham, Deputy Head:
‘Jackie Drew is our nurse at Beckfoot School. In 'normal' times, Jackie would deal with daily ailments of students, injuries, reassuring parents and carers, and supporting all those who have physical and medical needs. Over the years, she has been ultimately responsible for ensuring the health and safety of countless students with countless - and often incredibly complex - conditions. But beyond this, Jackie has navigated uncertain and treacherous waters over the global pandemic. She's taken on this enormous challenge with optimism, resilience and kindness. She's done this whilst also managing this time as a human being. This has meant understanding an illness that never existed before, putting herself at risk on a daily basis to the benefit and safety of our students, organising and delivering testing, and this will all continue. It won't just go away. None of this was part of Jackie's role before the pandemic and she carries the responsibility of this with good humour, with a smile and with a strength of character that is hugely admired.’
We are delighted that Jackie’s work has been recognised. Congratulations from all the Beckfoot students and staff!
