Beckfoot Trust is an organisation that links a group of local Bradford schools together so that they can collectively improve the life chances for young people within their schools. Our aim is to create a group of truly remarkable schools each with a genuine comprehensive intake. They will be wonderful places for young people to learn and grow up in. We want to make a difference. We want to create something special.

HM Queen Elizabeth II Funeral - school closure

Dear Parents/Carers,

As indicated in our correspondence last week, all Beckfoot Trust schools will be observing the period of national mourning throughout this week whilst continuing to support our students, families and employees.

Also, as indicated, we will continue to limit our presence on social media unless the information is for families and in relation to any change of scheduled activity.

Over the weekend the guidance from the Department for Education was clear that the decision has been taken to provide an additional bank holiday on the day of the state funeral which is now confirmed to take place on Monday 19 September 2022. Therefore, we will be closed on that day and will reopen the following day on Tuesday 20 September 2022.

It is important that our students are supported in their civic education so that they understand the constitutional significance of this event whilst also being reminded that grief affects everyone differently. On Friday we were able to utilise tutor time to take students through a snapshot of the life of Queen Elizabeth and allow them to ask any questions they had. This week we are planning to mark the passing of the Queen with a two minute silence on Friday morning. We have sourced a poem that will be read to students and the remainder of the two minutes will be for reflection and to allow students to remember her in their own way.

As always, we will have support in school for those that need it.

Best wishes.

Simon Wade - Headteacher
