Carousel - Year 10,11
Dear Parents/Carers
How to support your child’s success in GCSE Science
What is available to my child? As a school, we’ve recently invested in Carousel Learning. This is an online platform that teachers set weekly quizzes on. In addition, your child has paper copies of knowledge organisers on every Science topic they need to know to succeed in their GCSE exams. You can find them – along with all subject maps – here: https://www.beckfoot.org/curriculum-assessment/subjects/science/ks4-science/.
Why should my child use Carousel Learning? Your child needs to be able to remember a lot of knowledge to succeed in their GCSE Science exams, of which there are three. Carousel supports your child to test their knowledge, identify strengths, and identify any gaps in their knowledge for revision. It is also a tool Beckfoot teaching staff use for the same purposes.
How often should my child quiz? We expect your child to complete their one assigned quiz every week, but they can also use their knowledge organisers more regularly to test their knowledge.
How does my child access the quiz? All your child needs to do is log onto Microsoft Teams (which they used throughout the pandemic) and go to assignments. They need to click on the link set by their teacher and log in using their first name and surname.
What other help is available to support my child’s home learning? Your child can access the Homework Hub in the LRC (library) every day from 2.45pm to 3.30pm, except for Fridays.
How can I find out more? To find out more about Carousel Learning, visit www.carousel-learning.com or please get in touch with us. For any advice on how to support your child’s GCSE Science revision, please email Mr Harry Leigh at bechal@beckfoot.org.
Kind regards,
Mr Harry Leigh
