Year 11 After School Support Sessions for 2026

We hope you have had a wonderful festive period and we wish you all the very best for 2026. Thank you to those who attended the Year 11 Parental Revision Information Evening last night.

As you are aware, this is a significant year for our Year 11 students as they prepare to sit their first public examinations. In the run-up to the exam season, we have a wide range of additional support in place to help students revise effectively, consolidate learning and maintain strong routines. Before the holidays, our Period 6 programme began in earnest, and we would like to thank you for your continued support in ensuring that students attend sessions they are invited to.

Below is an overview of the support available to Year 11 students this term.  We have also included the full Period 6 timetable so that you can discuss with your child which additional sessions they may wish to opt into voluntarily.

KS4 Supervision

When:

  • 3.00pm – 4.00pm: Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Where:

  • Room M14

What:

  • KS4 Supervision sessions provide structured time for students to complete independent study and revision. Teachers may book students into supervision sessions to support them in meeting deadlines and completing vital revision in preparation for mock and final examinations. Students are also welcome to attend voluntarily.
  • Supervision sessions are led by members of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • You will receive a notification via the Class Charts app if your child has been booked into a supervision session. If a student fails to attend a booked session, they will be issued with a detention.
Period 6 Sessions

When:

  • 3.00pm – 3.45pm

Where:

  • Various rooms depending on subject (communicated via Class Charts)

What:

  • Period 6 sessions are subject-specific lessons that take place after the school day. These sessions focus on consolidating curriculum content, addressing misconceptions and supporting exam preparation. Students may be invited to attend by their class teacher or may choose to attend voluntarily.
  • Your child’s personalised Period 6 timetable will be sent out via Class Charts. If invited, it is expected that students attend these sessions. Failure to attend a timetabled Period 6 session will result in a detention. Of course, students are welcome to attend additional sessions if they so choose, to support your discussions around this, please find the full P6 timetable at the bottom of this letter.
Masterclass Sessions

When:

  • 3.00pm – 3.45pm

Where:

  • Various rooms depending on subject (communicated via Class Charts)

What:

  • Masterclass sessions provide targeted support for students, often focusing on exam technique, extended responses, higher-level skills or specific areas for improvement. These sessions are typically offered to selected students but may also be open for voluntary attendance, depending on the subject.
  • You will receive a notification via the Class Charts app if your child has been booked into a Masterclass session. Failure to attend a booked session will result in a detention.

We strongly encourage students to make full use of the support available to them as they prepare for their examinations. Thank you for your continued support in working with us to ensure every student is given the best possible chance to succeed.
