This week

Given the extreme weather conditions forecast for the remainder of this week, we have decided to allow all students the choice of following attire for the next 3 days:
- their full their normal full school uniform with normal school shoes (jumper does not have to be worn); or
- their full Beckfoot School PE kit with trainers (hoodie does not have to be worn).
No other items of clothing will be permitted.
For post -16 students, this will also include the wearing of smart shorts.
On Monday 29 June 2026, we will revert back to normal full school uniform with normal school shoes during the day.
Remember: we strongly recommend bringing plenty of water, sun protection, including sun cream and a hat/cap (to be worn whilst outside during breaktimes, PE lessons, and other outdoor activities), to help protect against the sun.
For outdoor PE lessons, students should come prepared for activity in the heat. Please note that sunglasses cannot be worn during PE, but suitable sun hats are encouraged when outside.
Please take care.

CyberFirst Silver Award

We’re proud to share that Beckfoot has been awarded the CyberFirst Silver Award by the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ), recognising our delivery of strong standards in cyber security education.

Understanding the world of cyber security is increasingly important for young people and their futures. The CyberFirst Schools initiative recognises schools across the country that demonstrate excellence in cyber security education and embed digital and cyber learning throughout their curriculum and enrichment programmes.

This award reflects the strong cyber provision we have in place across both curriculum and enrichment. Our CyberFirst Girls team will be visiting Leeds in March 2026 to compete against schools from across Yorkshire and Humber — an exciting opportunity to showcase their skills and represent Beckfoot.

Alongside this, students take part in a range of wider computing opportunities, including our annual participation in the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. This year, 56 students achieved Gold across Round 1 and Round 2 — an outstanding achievement. The next Bebras round will take place in March 2026.

Through competitions, enrichment clubs and dedicated curriculum time, we continue to develop students’ digital confidence, problem-solving skills, and understanding of future career pathways in Cyber and Computer Science.
