Open Evening - Thursday 17 September 2026
Look around our school, talk to staff and students and hear from the Headteacher, Mr Simon Wade. He will give presentations throughout the evening when the hall is full, starting from 5:30pm.

What a brilliant start we have had to our extra-curricular provision this year. Just a few weeks into the new school year and over 800 students — around 50% of our school — have already taken part in a Sport and Performing Arts (SPA), breaktime, lunchtime, or after-school activity.
It has been particularly fantastic to see over 60% of our Year 7 students already getting involved. We want every student to find something they enjoy, try something new and make the most of the opportunities available beyond the classroom.
It is never too late to get involved. Enrichment is a brilliant way to build confidence, develop new skills and make new friends. We would love to see even more students getting involved over the coming weeks.
A wealth of opportunities are also available through our Sixth Form Personal Development offer, including opportunities in sport, creative arts, leadership, work experience and much more. These experiences provide our Sixth Form students with valuable opportunities to develop their skills, explore their interests, build confidence, and prepare for life beyond school.

A Beckfoot lad is the National Youth Orchestra Leader
A huge congratulations to James, who has been invited back to the National Youth Orchestra as leader.
This is a magnificent achievement for James, our school and the city of Bradford and reflects the incredible focus he has shown over the last three years.
James has also been selected as a soloist for the Royal Northern College of Music end-of-year concert in 2027 — another fantastic milestone in what promises to be an exciting musical journey.
The leadership position within the National Youth Orchestra recognises not only musical ability, but also personality, character, and the ability to act as a role model for others.
It is a wonderful achievement and a significant stepping stone in James’s ongoing musical education and career. We are incredibly proud of him.

European Success for Seth and Ned
We were delighted to hear about the incredible achievements or two of our Year 12 students at the European Taekwondo Championships in Italy.
Seth returned home with an unbelievable 7 medals – 2 x Bronze medals, 3 x Silver medals, 1 x Gold – Tag Team Sparring and 1 x Gold – Individual 3rd Dan Patterns making Seth a Double European Champion!
The Individual Patterns competition is one of the marquee events at these tournaments, and Seth overcame competitors from countries including Spain, Italy, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Mexico, Ireland, and the USA to claim gold.
His performances were a fantastic demonstration of control, power, timing, strength, and focus. Seth also played an important leadership role as Team Patterns Captain, helping to anchor the boys’ team.
Ned returned home with an incredible six medals – one bronze, four silver and one gold, across individual and team events.
He competed in individual patterns and sparring, team patterns and sparring, and tag team sparring, competing alongside some of the most talented athletes from across Europe and the wider world.
Seth, Ned, and their teammates had an outstanding week and even finished second overall in the combined medals table. Alongside the competition, they made new friends from across the world and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Mollie’s Dance Success
We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Mollie in Year 11, whose exceptional talent has seen her achieve success at local, regional, and national level.
In recent months, she has proudly represented the North of England at the All England Dance National Finals in Eastbourne. After progressing through a series of qualifying rounds, Mollie earned her place in the Regional Rinals. From there, she was one of only two dancers selected to represent the North of England at the National Finals – an incredible achievement and a real testament to her hard work and talent.
Mollie’s success continues through her dance school, CC Dance, where she regularly takes part in dance festivals, consistently achieving exceptional results including Section Winner, Runner-Up, Highest Score of the Festival, Winning Duet and Winning Troupe and she has gone on to achieve top three finishes nationally!
Alongside her competition work, Mollie also undertakes graded dance examinations. Her exceptional performances in Ballet and Tap have resulted in her being awarded scholarships in recognition of her outstanding results.
A huge congratulations to Mollie — we are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved and look forward to seeing where her passion for dance takes her next!
Annabel and Duchess Shine in the Show Ring
Congratulations also to Annabel in Year 11, who recently travelled to Arena UK in Grantham with her horse, Duchess, to compete in the British Show Pony Society National Heritage Competition.
Duchess is just four years old, and Annabel has helped train her from scratch to compete at a level rarely achieved by such a young horse.
Reaching this standard takes an incredible amount of commitment, hard work, and courage. Competing against 15 riders from across the UK, Annabel and Duchess produced a fantastic performance to finish second overall in Britain.
A brilliant achievement for them both — well done, Annabel and Duchess!
Isla shows Manchester City how it’s done!
Isla in Year 8, who currently plays football for Halifax Girls u13s, recently had the fantastic opportunity to play against Manchester City at the City Football Academy. She was utterly brilliant throughout the game, scoring a goal, providing an assist and being awarded Player of the Match! A huge well done to Isla who is such a talent and is so passionate about football and continually developing as a player.
Racing Success for Alfie
Congratulations to Alfie in Year 11 who recently competed in a Club 100 racing event. Club100 is the highest level of ‘Arrive & Drive’ 2 stroke Kart Racing in Europe.
After qualifying 7th for the final, Alfie made an excellent start to the race. After just two laps, Alfie managed to move through the field while others battled to hold their positions. He finished as race winner a full 16 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger!
Alfie is a real talent with an incredible passion for motorsport and cars. His achievement is a fantastic example of determination, composure, and taking opportunities when they come along. We are hugely proud of his success and of the man he is becoming.

Preparing for GCSE and A Level Success
And finally, our Year 11 and Year 13 students begin the first of their planned mock examination weeks on Monday.
These examinations are important because they provide a valuable point-in-time assessment of each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. They are an important part of a tried-and-tested strategic approach to building both knowledge and confidence as we progress through the year towards the GCSE and A Level examinations next summer.
Mock examinations are not simply about the results on the paper. They give students the opportunity to practise under examination conditions, identify gaps in their knowledge, understand where further work is needed and develop the confidence and resilience they will need when they sit their final examinations.
I wish each of our Year 11 and Year 13 students the best of luck. I would strongly urge them to commit fully to the week and approach every examination with focus and determination, so that they can gain the maximum amount of learning from the experience.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work our students are putting in, and I look forward to seeing them continue to grow in confidence and knowledge as the year progresses.
Celebrating Every Student
For me, what links the stories in this Blog together is the commitment behind them. Whether it is music, martial arts, dance, equestrian sport, racing, academic study or one of the many other activities our students pursue, success rarely happens by accident. It comes from practising, persevering, learning from setbacks and having the courage to keep going.
These achievements also remind us why our extra-curricular and personal development provision matters so much. The opportunities beyond the classroom help our young people discover what they are capable of, develop their confidence and character, and find passions that can stay with them for life.
Over 800 students are already taking part this year – and we want that number to keep growing.
There is something for everyone. So, if you haven’t yet found your activity, why not give something new a try? Who knows where it might take you.
Take care.
