Year 11 Support

As you know, Year 11 is an important year for our students, and at Beckfoot we provide a wide range of support to help every student feel prepared, confident and able to achieve their potential. You may notice that our Year 11 mock examinations are taking place earlier this year. Holding the mock examinations earlier this year gives us a valuable opportunity to see how students are progressing and where they may benefit from additional support. This will help us to shape our Year 11 provision throughout the year, ensuring that we can respond to the specific areas each student needs to develop before their final GCSE examinations.

This term, our Year 11 support will include KS4 Study Sessions, KS4 Supervision Sessions, and a number of Period 6/Masterclass sessions. Please note, the majority of our Period 6/Masterclass sessions will begin following the Christmas break, when we will have a clearer understanding of the areas students need to focus on most and provide them with an individual timetable.

We will also be offering a Year 11 Parents/Carers Face-to-Face Revision Support Workshop, designed to help parents and carers who would like guidance on how they can support their child throughout their final GCSE year. The workshop will be delivered by Miss Holmes, Assistant Headteacher, on Thursday 22 October 2026, from 5:00–6:00pm. If you would like to attend, please select “Yes I Consent” on the Class Charts message that has been sent to you.

Please ensure that students are fully prepared for their examinations. Students will need to bring:

  • A clear pencil case containing all the equipment they require; including at least two black pens (blue pens are not acceptable)
  • A calculator, if required for the examination.
  • A bottle of water with no label on it.
  • No mobile phone or other prohibited electronic devices including smart watches, smart airbuds, smart glasses or smart tablets.

KS4 Supervision

When: 3pm – 4pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Where: Room M14

What: ‘Supervision’ for Year 10 and 11 students supports them doing independent study and revision. Teachers book students into supervision sessions to support keeping up with deadlines and vital revision in preparation for their mocks and real exams. Supervision is run by members of the Senior Leadership Team.

You will receive a notification on the Class Charts app if your child has been booked in to supervision. If your child fails to attend, they will be booked into detention.

Study Support

When: Monday, 3pm – 4pm

Where: Room AP4

Mrs Douglas (Head of Year 11) and Miss Beth Webber (Year 11 Pastoral Manager) run sessions once a week where students can attend in order to have somewhere quiet to complete homework, revise and complete other independent learning activities with support from their year team.

Period 6/Masterclass sessions

[please note, these will mostly happen after the Christmas break]

When: 3pm – 3.45pm

Where: Various rooms depending on subject – will be communicated in Class Charts messages

What: Most subjects will offer additional Period 6/Masterclass sessions after the timetabled day, to support year 11 students to consolidate their knowledge and skills in exam subjects. Any student can attend.

You will receive a notification on the Class Charts app if your child has been booked in to a period 6/masterclass. If your child fails to attend, they will be booked into detention.
