First Give is a charity that runs a school programme designed to inspire young people to develop social awareness and take action on real-world issues. It supports students in researching social problems, choosing a charity to work with, fundraising, and presenting what they’ve learned. The programme helps students build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of social and moral responsibility, and often culminates in a final event where students compete to win a grant (e.g. £1,000) for their chosen charity.
Over the last five years, Beckfoot School has worked closely with First Give to engage students in social action and charitable giving. During this time, 1,624 students have taken part in the programme, learning about local social issues and supporting community causes.

Students have collectively raised £6,204, and through the First Give grants, a total of £11,204 has been given to local charities.
As part of this partnership, five First Give grants have been awarded to organisations including Curry Circle, The Cellar Trust, Bradford Curry Project, POPI Baby Bank, and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.
