Open Evening - Thursday 17 September 2026
Look around our school, talk to staff and students and hear from the Headteacher, Mr Simon Wade. He will give presentations throughout the evening when the hall is full, starting from 5:30pm.
A Level Music
Students will build upon the knowledge gained at GCSE or BTEC to develop an advanced knowledge of all aspects of music, focusing on performance, composition and musical appraisal in particular.

- Instrumental/vocal performance
- Development of musical ideas
- Written analysis of music
Entry Requirements
- Grade 4 in GCSE English
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths
- Grade 6 in GCSE music or Merit in BTEC music
- Grade 5 standard on an instrument or voice
Units studied
- Unit 1: Performing Music
- Unit 2: Composing Music
- Unit 3: Developing Musical Understanding
Careers
Students will be able to study for a degree in music which leads to a number of jobs including performance, research, composition and teaching. Music is one of the most transferable subjects on the curriculum with future destinations are varied and broad.
Enrichment
Our enrichment provision includes visits to concerts and taking part in residentials. There are various musical groups within school to ensure that students continually
have fun and make excellent academic progress.
