Look around our school, talk to staff and students and hear from the Headteacher, Mr Simon Wade. He will give presentations throughout the evening when the hall is full, starting from 5:30pm.
A Level History
Students will build upon the skills gained at GCSE and apply them to new areas
of study. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of two fascinating areas of
History. Students will understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time, as they gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives.
Assessment is in the form of two written exams at the end of Year 13, each lasting 2 hours 30 minutes and a piece of coursework completed by the first term of Year 13.

- Grade 5 in GCSE History
- Grade 5 in GCSE English
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths

- The Tudors: England, 1485-1603

Careers
Once students have gained a History A Level they can continue their studies at university. History offers a wide range of transferable skills that are valued by universities for a range of degrees: independence, research skills, analysis and critical thinking, constructing an argument. These skills that are continually developed in a History degree are highly valued by employers in all sectors.
Enrichment
History students in the past have been on trips to museums and archives, seeing historical artefacts up close and debating historical preconceptions.
