Open Evening - Thursday 17 September 2026
Look around our school, talk to staff and students and hear from the Headteacher, Mr Simon Wade. He will give presentations throughout the evening when the hall is full, starting from 5:30pm.
A Level Drama and Theatre
Throughout the course students will study, rehearse and perform six different plays. Students will explore the role of Performers, Directors and Designers,
taking part in a variety of scripted group performances in contrasting styles.
For component one students will research Theatre Companies and Practitioners
to create, rehearse and perform their own reinterpretations of existing
repertoire. In component two, students will devise performances by responding
to a stimulus and perform a scripted extract from a chosen text. Assessment
is in the form of practical performance, written evaluations and process reports.
Component three is a written exam, which takes place at the end of Year 13,
where students will study three plays, including one classical and one
contemporary.

Entry Requirements
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths
- Grade 4in GCSE English Language and/or Literature
- Level 2 pass in BTEC Performing Arts or Grade 4 GCSE Drama
- Students with extensive performing arts experience will be considered

- Component 1: Theatre workshop (20%)
- Component 2: Text in action (40%)
- Component 3: Text in performance (40%)
Careers
Students will develop their confidence, performance and analytical skills. All students studying Drama will benefit from working as part of a team and regularly performing, developing their interpersonal skills, non verbal communication and oracy skills. Students may continue their studies at Drama School or University. They may also chose to progress directly into employment within the Performance industry.
Enrichment
Students will perform at a range of events to invited audiences and view a variety of live professional Theatre.
They will have the opportunity to take part in workshops with a professional theatre practitioner in the industry.
