Sixth Form Open Evening - Thursday 6 November 2025

    Enrichment and Extra-curricular

At Beckfoot School, we pride ourselves in offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities beyond the curriculum. We encourage all students to engage in these activities to support them in their personal development outside of the classroom.

We are committed to providing as many enrichment activities as possible for our students, and aim to ensure that all enrichment opportunities complement and build upon that offered within the curriculum experience. Students and parents will be regularly informed of the opportunities available.

    SPA (Sports and Performing Arts)

Students are encouraged to join up to two Sports and Performing Arts (SPA) activities which are held during the day. Activities offered usually include drama, dance, art, music, singing, netball, trampolining, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, football and fitness – something for everyone! The new SPA timetable is available to view or download below.

    • For most activities you do not need to sign up, just come along to the session.
    • Some sessions will be done on a rota on a first come, first served basis, so if you wish to take part you must come to the first sign-up or speak to the PE faculty.
    • You cannot come to a SPA during a PSHCE session or assembly.
    • You can only take part in two SPA activities a week (i.e. you can only miss 2 tutor periods a week)but you can take part in as many after school activities as you like.
    • If attending a PE SPA you need to come at 10.30am so wont have chance to go to the canteen. Therefore, if break time food is important to you, bring a snack from home.
    • You can attend as many of the relevant after school sessions as you like. Please make sure whoever is at home knows where you are and that you have made arrangements for transport home. There are no school buses at this time.
    • Students will only require trainers for most PE SPA activities, for after school they need full PE kit.

    After-School Clubs

Beckfoot offers a variety of after-school activities and clubs, currently including dance, woodwork, music groups, textiles, cheerleading and climbing as well as various sports clubs including badminton, rugby, athletics, table tennis, netball and football. The new after school timetable is available to view or download below.

Please note that students will leave school through the main reception once their after-school activity, clubs or fixtures finish.

Also, due to safeguarding reasons, we do not permit spectators to any after-school activity, club or fixture. Thank you for your understanding.

    Music Tuition

We have a fantastic team of instrumental and vocal staff who offer incredible tuition for our students. These music lessons allow students to explore their musical interests in a supportive, constructive and developmental setting. During lessons students will build their skills on their chosen instrument or voice, developing into fantastic musicians who take part in musical activities both in and out of school.

The students receive 33 lessons a year, these can be either 30 minute individual or 30 minute group lessons (two students per group). To find out more and sign up for this great opportunity, please sign up here: Beckfoot School Instrumental lesson sign up form – To be completed by parent/carer.
