I am delighted to welcome you to Beckfoot School. I hope that our website and prospectus gives you a flavour of the fantastic educational opportunities available here. Beckfoot is a non-denominational, non-selective school, welcoming girls and boys from all backgrounds from the local community. We have 1650 students in our school with over 300 in our Sixth Form who all study A level courses.
Ofsted graded the school ‘outstanding’ in every category in 2014 and we achieved the World Class Quality Mark in 2016. Our school is totally student-centred. Everything we do here is designed to allow all to grow in confidence, develop as leaders and prepare for life beyond school. We want every student to strive to achieve great things both in lessons and beyond and we want them to demonstrate through action their care for others locally, nationally and internationally day in day out.
I am immensely proud that Ofsted described our students in the following way:
'their verve and enjoyment of life and learning runs through all aspects of school life'
Achieving World Class Schools status was very special. Only schools with an outstanding Ofsted judgement can apply. We succeeded because our students demonstrated to the assessors that they are clearly developing as world class learners. We were the first state school in the North of England to achieve it.
In 2011 we moved into brand new purpose built accommodation. This has allowed our students to have access to the very best facilities in all aspects of the curriculum. It has also raised the bar for us all. We have to make best use of this amazing environment. We do this through a combination of well thought through curriculum pathways, fantastic extra-curricular opportunities, great teaching, very clear behaviour expectations and high quality personalised support.
We are very much a community school and do not want to work in isolation from other schools. As an outstanding school we were encouraged to support other local schools to improve along with ourselves. We set up the Beckfoot Trust in 2012 which now has seven Bradford schools within it. We also have our own Teaching School. We only work with schools that are in Bradford and want to join us. They have to share the same values, vision and aspirations that we have. They also have to be co-educational and totally wedded to the principle of comprehensive education. We believe it is morally right to support other schools to improve and more selfishly we know that we will improve ourselves at a much faster rate if we can work in partnership with other great educationalists. It is a very exciting time.
Finally, to truly understand the soul of our school, please click on the Buzz which will take you to our student publication, totally overseen by Beckfoot students. It is very special. Enjoy - Learn - Succeed!
Please feel free to contact us at any time. If you would like to visit us, meet members of our amazing staff team or just have a look around, please contact us. We are always very happy to show off our school.

Message from Gill Halls - Head of School
I have been a member of staff at Beckfoot for even longer than David! It has been a joy to see our wonderful school grow and become what it is today. When David asked me to work closely alongside him as Head of School, I was thrilled and honoured. Thrilled because I know that the school is still improving and I want to be at the centre of that. Honoured, because the values of Beckfoot are so strong and so student-centred.
I think our students’ bid to achieve the World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2017 best demonstrates our ambition and our values. This is exciting because to achieve this quality mark is tough – we would be the first school in the North of England to get it. Our students will have to demonstrate that as learners they are scientifically, mathematically and technologically literate, that they value learning in all its contexts, and that they are globally aware. World Class Students are ambitious for future learning and are prepared for life in an international environment. They also need to be humble, demonstrate humanity and look to strengthen wider communities through understanding and collaborative work. Achieving the status will give our students access to work collaboratively with a network of World Class schools, both nationally and internationally.
That’s what all of us here at Beckfoot believe in. Exciting if we can achieve it.
Anyway, please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time if you want to know more about the school or need assistance.
