Transition from year 6 to year 7 is a very important stage in every child’s educational journey. We are committed to ensuring every year 7 student makes the best possible start to their time with us. We offer a wide range of events and information sessions to ensure you, as parents and carers, are well-informed in how to support your child. We hope you find our FAQs handout useful.
Enjoy our Open Evening in September – This is a great opportunity to find out more about the school, our ethos and our values. Take a tour of the school site with one of our Beckbuddies, meet our staff and hear from the Head. There will also be interactive activities going on throughout the school. Most importantly, you will be able to ask our students about their experience of Beckfoot.
Come to an Information Evening at your child's primary school – Gill Halls (Headteacher), Alex Denham (Deputy Headteacher), Tom Darling (Assistant Headteacher) and the Head of Year 7 visit all our main feeder primary schools in the lead up to Open Evening. We meet with prospective students and their families, give you all the information you need, and answer any questions you might have. We’re also joined by current students who share their experience of Beckfoot.
Visits from Head of Year 7 and SENCo – These school representatives visit our feeder primary schools to find out more about new year 7s to ensure that their transition to Beckfoot is as smooth and successful as possible.
See you at Welcome Evening on 1st July 2019 – This is an evening event where you and your child meet their form tutor, their Head of Year, and the senior leadership team. You will find out more about preparing for Beckfoot and receive a Welcome Pack. This includes the Year 7 Family Handbook which we hope you find useful in answering any questions you may have.
Your child’s first Transition Day on 3rd July 2019 - This is a one day event where your child will join us for a taster day at Beckfoot. They’ll meet their tutor, experience what lessons are like at Beckfoot, and spend break and lunch with us.

Join us at a special Parent Forum just for you on 11th July 2019 – We hold a dedicated Parent Forum for all our families who are new to Beckfoot. We answer your questions and make sure you have all the information you need to guide and support your child in their journey through to secondary school.
