Attendance Guidance during Covid 19

Attendance Guidance during Covid 19

We wanted to update and offer further guidance to our parents and carers following questions being asked of our attendance team during the Covid 19 pandemic.

Our Guiding principles

We have followed Government guidance on the opening of our school; we have undertaken rigorous risk assessments to ensure that school is safe for our pupils and staff.

Attendance in school is mandatory and has been from the start of the 2020/21 academic year and the usual rules apply:

1.     It is the duty of parents to ensure that their child of compulsory school age attends regularly at the school where the child is registered
2.     Schools are responsible for recording attendance and following up absence
3.     The ability to issue sanctions, including fixed penalty notices, in line with local authorities' code of conduct.

We will follow the Trust Attendance policy (see below), national and local government guidance on supporting attendance and reducing absence

Please see below the guidance from Department for Education (DFE) on how to act if your child has illness symptoms
