It has been a fantastic term, which has flown by! Our Year 7 learners have settled in and are participating in many co-curricular events, developing their independence, and growing at speed! Our students continue to make me so proud of our community, be it with performances in ‘Footloose’, fundraising for refugees, or supporting a fellow student by raising over £750 to buy not only the target of one, but two PlayStations for Great Ormond Street Hospital. They have competed successfully in sporting events, triumphed in debating competitions, produced the first ever totally ‘in-house’ designed edition of the Buzz, and also engage wholeheartedly and enthusiastically in their learning.
As always, our term drew to a close with an incredible Christmas Concert which showcased talent and professionalism way beyond what one would expect of young people and Years 7 and 8 were thoroughly entertained by the Year 10 Drama students performing a pantomime. Today’s staff entertainment reflects enthusiasm and energy, even if the talent is somewhat lacking! This year the £600+ donations from the Christmas Jumper day will be shared between the Soup Run (feeding the homeless at Christmas) and Manorlands. The latter will be donated in memory of our wonderful colleague Pam MacDonald, who passed away in summer and who spent many years overseeing Beckfoot Christmas events and fundraising.
I would like to thank all of our students, parents, carers and staff for ensuring that our community, and the pride we all have in being a part of it, continues to ensure that we all Enjoy, Learn and Succeed.
I hope you all have a brilliant holiday and best wishes for 2019.
