Our Year 9 and 10 Health and Social Care students were involved in an amazing event yesterday lead by Ahead Partnership and Northern Powergrid. Our students interviewed 5 elderly residents from our local community throughout the day hoping to create a project aimed to support their needs in the event of a power cut.
Their projects aimed to promote the Priority Service Register so that vulnerable residents have their personal needs met by Northern Powergrid. The groups presented their community event ideas to a ‘Dragons Den’ style panel. Our students were exceptional showing respect, creativity, confidence and leadership skills.
The exciting element is that our students will have the opportunity to put their ideas into action by hosting a community event where they will invite many elderly residents, Northern Powergrid, NHS representatives to an afternoon of fun but educational too.
