With just six school weeks until we move into our new school year on Monday 19th June, we are seeing the external exams approaching at speed! Our year 11 and post 16 students are in a good place. Coursework is completed, a very successful GCSE PE moderation is finished and Art exams are over. Revision timetables are sorted. Numerous students accessed the additional revision sessions throughout the Easter holidays and are attending period 6 sessions in a range of subjects. All lessons in school are focused on content revision, exam technique and accessing past papers. We aim to support every individual student through this crucial time.
We are also looking forward to a very special week for year 11. They have their Prom on Thursday evening, followed by the trip to Flamingoland on Friday. These are very important events, with the students having a chance to celebrate their work so far and have some fun and relaxation before settling down to their exam schedule.
Plenty of other activities continue to enrich the life of the school. Our annual Beckfoot Young Musician event, which took place before the holidays, was a spectacular event, with a wealth of talent on show from all year groups. Congratulations to overall winner Robert Bailey, and all others who participated throughout the heats and on the night. It was simply awesome and totally inspiring. A gallery of images from the event can be seen at the end of this blog. As I am writing this, we have 70 students out this weekend on 24 hour a practice Duke of Edinburgh expedition. The summer PE extra curricular schedule starts this week and Beckfoot is hosting an MFL Spelling Bee on Tuesday. We all know how important exams are, but the additional experiences our students access in school, play a vital role in developing them as individuals and allowing them to demonstrate their skills and talents.
All our other year groups in school also have end of year assessments in the coming weeks, and you will have seen that there is a link on the website to both exams and assessment information. Students will have details of these in their planners and have had assemblies this week to help them in develop revision strategies, skills and techniques.
Finally, a thank you for your support following the letter we sent out at the end of term regarding standards of uniform and our focus on attendance and punctuality. We have had a great first week of term!
As always, if you need any other information, or we can offer support in any way, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at school.
