A lovely email from a member of the public today about our students. It is nice to read,
I wondered if this could be conveyed to the leadership.
On a Thursday I collect my eldest son from his gymnastics class at around 6pm.
Going through the gates to go the gym a student held the gate open for me and another girl held the door to the gym block. Both were polite and cheerful. In these days of bad press I felt it necessary to commend these young ladies although I don't know what year they are in.
We had a wonderful Open Evening last week where we welcomed close to 1500 people. From reading the exit surveys, it looks like the vast majority had a great time. They saw what we are about here day-to-day, met our students and staff and also got a sense of our ambition to become a world class school. The most important thing about Beckfoot is that we always put our students first and expect them to succeed, we passionately believe in comprehensive education and we just want to keep improving as a school.
On that note, next week a group of our student leaders are heading to London to take part in the World Class Schools Assessment for Beckfoot. We were shortlisted last week to get to this stage. Fingers crossed that we are successful. If not we will try again next year! We would love to have the status of being a 'world class school'. It would provide us a real springboard to build on what we have achieved and make even more of a difference to the life chances of our students.
We will keep you informed of developments.
Hopefully many of you will be coming to see Seussical the Musical next week! On from Tuesday to Thursday.
