Important Information about Work Experience

We hope you are all keeping well and safe.
As you are aware, you are all supposed to be taking part in Beckfoot's work experience programme in July.
We have been speaking to Mr Wade over the last few weeks and due to the circumstances we find ourselves in at the moment, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel work experience for this year.
The safety of our students is the most important thing to us and we feel allowing placements to go ahead would not be the sensible thing to do.
We know this will be a big disappointment for you as a lot of hard work has gone into securing placements in some brilliant companies in the local area and further afield.  You have all shown maturity, confidence and resilience in the way you have worked with Mrs Mettrick and your form tutors since WEX was launched in October last year.
The next steps are very important in communicating this to everybody involved.  Mrs Mettrick is going to contact all employers to inform them of our decision to cancel so please don't worry about that.
If you personally arranged your placement and have had contact with the employer over the last few months, you might want to email them as well to thank them for the placement, but that is up to you. If you need support doing this or with anything else Careers related, please email Mrs Mettrick or me on our school email address. We are still here to help and would be happy to hear from you.
Please be assured that if you have the opportunity to carry out work experience in the future, we will support you in any way we can in doing that.
Thank you for your understanding in this tough decision.
Take care and please do get in touch if you need anything.
Mrs Wilson & Mrs Mettrick
