Following discussions within our Senior Leadership Team, Middle Leaders, Teaching Staff and with the Parent Forum earlier this week, we have decided to adopt the Beckfoot Trust Learning Journey for Years 7 to 10.
This is the document we use to set students their GCSE targets as well as each end of year targets.
Please find this Student Learning Journey below. There are explanations to guide you through the journey.
If you would like to ask any questions about the Student Learning Journey, please contact Mr Cooley, Deputy Headteacher at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your child’s start point is based on the data we receive from their SATs scores in Reading and Maths. We take an average of the two scores.
End of Year 11 Target
Your child’s end of Year 11 target is what they will be targeted for in their GCSE exams. If they attain this target they will be in the top 5% of the country for students with the same start point.
End of Year Target
Your child’s end of year target is a step target towards them reaching their final GCSE grade. If they are on target for this in their reports, we are confident they are on target to reach their final target grade.
End of Year 11 Gold Target
In Year 11 when students have reached their target we set them a ‘Gold Target.’ This is a target to stretch them further and offer more challenge. It would place your child in the top 1% in the country for students with the same start point.
If your child is already meeting their target during a school year we will automatically put this target up too, to ensure we are keeping the level of challenge up.
