World Class Schools Quality Mark 2019 Symposium
On Thursday 4 July, King Ecgbert School in Sheffield hosted the World Class Schools Quality Mark Symposium. The theme of this year’s Symposium was ‘World Class Creativity.’ The event provided an opportunity for 250 delegates made up of around 50 CEOs/Headteachers, 100 school staff and 100 World Class students from around 55 World Class Schools UK-wide to come together with high-profile partner organisations to share ideas and best practice for World Class creative curricula. The day was packed with workshops, presentations and networking opportunities. As part of the symposium we were also scheduled to find out if we had got our World Class Schools status re-accredited.
Representing Beckfoot, Miguel (Year 13), Eleanor (Year 9) and I along with Mrs Ratahi and Mrs Heaton attended the event. As a duet, Miguel played an amazing piano piece, while Eleanor choreographed an equally brilliant dance for the song, which they performed in front of two live audiences! I then followed up their performance with a presentation to the other World Class Schools about creativity and collaboration at Beckfoot in terms of the Rock Challenge Competition and our coming fourth in the Northern Open Finals in Grimsby as well as the Martin House Music Concert which, myself, and the BSL Charity Group helped to organise. I also presented our ideas for organising another Martin House Music Concert in November this year, in collaboration with Hazelbeck and Beckfoot Allerton. We then received our World Class Schools re-accreditation award, which was a successful round off to the day!
